first week of february

February 9, 2019 by Meg Leave a Comment

This is going to be all over the place, so brace yourself.

miss mustard seed milk paint, bench by my hubby

It's been a busy week here at the Austin house!

Last Sunday I used milk paint to finish a few benches. I honestly expected them to turn out navy... oops! At least I like the turquoise, right? This bench is for my front porch and is finished with Hemp Oil. It is a very natural finish, but should protect it from the weather.

friends tell friends about things they love: like my ultra soft lincoln perk shirt

I actually put on REAL jeans this week (you know, the non-black yoga pants kind) and did my hair.

What???

This t-shirt is one of my very favorites. It came from the coffee shop in Hesston and I wear it WAY too often. If you are local you should buy one (or one in each color).

Also, I've been wearing Savvy Minerals makeup for more than a week now. I love how light the coverage is. My skin has very pale with red undertones and Warm II is my color.

I'll try to post about the eyeshadow and blush next week and give my review.

My oil storage is looking more put together with the addition of twinkly lights and some plants. I'll probably keep tweaking it, but I'm happy with how it looks now!

I hosted a Make & Take class at my house last night and it was so much fun! Several of my friends came over to make infused bath salts, essential oil rollers and a sugar lip scrub. I meant to take pictures, but we started chatting and laughing and I didn’t remember... oops!

If you want to host a class (Make & Take, How to Use Oils, Oils & Kiddos, etc...) shoot me a message! My goal is to begin teaching a few classes each month and I would luuuuuuv to do one for you 3>

Premium Starter Kit... literally the best choice you'll ever make

At the party, I showed off the new 2019 Premium Starter Kit.

The new kit comes with 12 oils instead of 11! Valor and Peace & Calming are two of my very favorite oils and it is so cool that they are now included in the kit! Get yours here http://YL.pe/8qxc

Since we made so many DIY recipes, I had a gift bag for all of the guests to pack their goodies in.

Hopefully they will all find time this weekend to pamper themselves and enjoy their relaxing salt soak.

I have already changed my recipe for the exfoliating lip scrub we made. I think the group was split 50/50 on the poppyseeds, so next time I will leave them out. The sugar is super nice on it's own! If you want to naturally plump your lips, add peppermint essential oil to your gloss or chapstick!

Lucky for us, I know a girl who has a big garden (um, yes, I'm talking about myself). I had dried a bunch of lavender and we added it to our bath salt recipe.

Dried lavender feels so fancy in a bath!

Last but not least, making my own cleaning cloths has been such an easy way to reduce the use of toxic chemicals in our home. Clorox wipes are incredibly toxic and should be avoided. Even so, I still want to kill the bad germs and keep my home clean and my family healthy.

Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate is my secret trick. If you want to make your own, it couldn't be easier.

YOU WILL NEED:

+ Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate

+ a big glass canister

+ twelve washcloths.

To the glass canister, add two cups of very warm water and one capful of Thieves concentrate. I also add about ten drops of essential oils (Thieves, Tea Tree or Purification are my favorites). Next I roll the cloths and put them into the canister.

Whenever I need a countertop or stainless steel wipe, I grab my eco friendly (plant based and safe!) wipes and clean everything up!

They smell amazing and work like a dream.

Have a great weekend!
